Report:
Met at Showalter around 8:30 and equipped the participants with any gear they needed, circled up and did an intro to the day followed by a team huddle/cheer (everyone made their favorite animal's call), then hopped in the vans and departed between 9:15 and 9:30. Arrived at Gold Creek parking area around 10:30. Path was suitable for hiking without snow shoes, so we gave participants the option of using the ones we brought or just proceeding without. Some chose to use them, and some chose to not. We snow shoed/hiked into the big field by the frozen pond, set some ground rules for safety's sake, then spent the next several hours hanging around in the snowfield, eating lunch when hungry, digging holes in the snow, sledding down the hill, building a snow fort, etc. We started moving back to the vans around 2:00 to leave some time for hot chocolate back at the vans before heading back to school. We had a great time!
