Report:
We began the day meeting at Tukwila Elementary at 0900h. Weather conditions were good (just a bit chilly) so all we had to do was dispense water bottles for everyone. After a brief introduction, we headed to NW Trek Wildlife Park, which took about an hour to get to. We were not able to get the "school field trip" discount others have in the past; however, we were able to take advantage of a deal in which it was free admission for every two full-priced student tickets. We started by our walking tour by visiting the large felines, canids, and ursids. At noon, we took a tram tour seeing the large herbivores (e.g. moose, bison, deer, sheep). The tour lasted about 45 minutes, after which we had lunch at the picnic pavilion. After lunch, we took a tour of the raptors, wetland, and forest animals. We finished the day spending about 30 minutes at the Kids' Trek Playground, which was a hit for the students. We concluded our park visitation with a closing circle discussion what our best experiences were, etc. We drove back to Tukwila Elementary (one van played trivia for cookie prizes). A nice day was had by all.
