Trip Types:
Canoeing, Hiking, Kayaking, Other
Plan:
We will camp in front of a private cabin at lake Roesiger, participating in waterfront activities on Saturday. On Sunday morning we will drive to Mt. Pilchuck and hike either the summit or Heather lake.
Report:
We drove to Lake Roesiger Saturday morning and set up tents. We then played games and had lunch. We then donned bathing suits and life jackets and kids swam, boated and paddleboarded for the rest of the afternoon and into the early evening. We had smores around the campfire at dusk. The next morning we rose at 7 a.m. and broke down camp. We then travelled to the Lake heather trail head and hiked the 5 mile round trip. We then returned to Lake Roesiger for an hour of swimming and boating (and hot tubbing) before returning to Seattle. One downside this year was that we had 19 kids fill out permission slips but because of a shortage of volunteers we had to limit participation to 11 kids. Two kids even showed up on Saturday morning hoping one of the 11 would be a no show. it was disappointing being unable to meet the demand. But the trip, overall, was great, and the kids had a very active fun time.
Suggestions:
Compared to last year we had a noticeably reduced presence of cell phones. We need to get greater ICO volunteer participation at WMS.
