- We started the morning off with a quick breakfast at Golden Gardens, a little play on the beach. We left an ICO leader to guard the picnic tables and set up the food.
Then we headed to the Ballard Locks. The students enjoyed taking the tour that the Hiram Chittenden Ballard Locks provided.
Back to Golden Gardens with hungry kids for a BBQ of hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken skewers, potato salad, fruit and chips. Then it was an afternoon of unstructured play time. The energetic students had a good time walking on the beach, playing with the football and soccer ball, and discovering invertebrate fauna and kelp at the water edge and on the beach. Happy kids and beautiful weather.
Highly Recommended: Make a picnic shelter reservation at least 2 months in advance.
