- On April 6th, 2019, Team Madrona comprised of 4 ICO leaders, 1 school representative, 1 youth leader, and 9 Madrona elementary students. The team left on time at 9:15 AM for an exciting hike along the Lake Serene Trail to Bridal Veil Falls. Special thanks to EYES leader, Henry Ho, for helping the students find their appropriate gear sizes and entertaining them while we waited for the last few students to arrive. Despite the rain, elevation gain, and sections of narrow, rocky trail, the students hiked at a quick pace and reached the falls much faster than expected. After a safety briefing, the group approached the waterfall overlook and appreciated the power and magnificence of the falls. Unfortunately, the falls could only be viewed for a short time as the mist drenched the already soggy group. Lunch was devoured quickly and the group eagerly began hiking back down the trail. On the descent, the group finally got some respite from the rain and were able to take in some views of the forested hills and mountains across the valley. Once back at the trailhead, the group headed to Wallace Falls State Park for afternoon snacks and a bathroom break. Right after everyone took advantage of the facilities, thunder rolled in and the group rolled out, arriving back at Madrona Elementary around 4 PM.
