7:300 = Pre-trip meeting at All City Coffee
8:30 = Kids arrive, introductions, gear hand-out, trip preview
9:15 = Drive to Nisqually NWR
10:00 = Arrive at Nisqually NWR, short orientation talk
10:30 = Hike 1 mi to Twin Barns, identifying birds/wildlife along the way
11:30 = Lunch at Twin Barns
12:30 = Hike 1.5 mi to end of Estuary Boardwalk trail, viewing wildlife along the way, then 2 mi back to Visitor Center
2:00 = Closing circle at Visitor Center
2:30 = Drive back to school
3:15 = Arrive at school, return gear
3:30 = Kids get picked up
Report:
We had a great time! This trip was focused on observing nature and watching the birds and the youth really got into it. We also were able to observe a lot of really cool things like a great horned owl, two eagles eating a duck, and a great blue heron eating a snake.
