Team:
South Shore K-8
Date:
Saturday, April 25, 2015
Trip Types:
Bird Watching, Educational, Hiking
Plan:
We will be doing a hike/nature walk at Hazel Wolf Wetlands in Sammamish. The hike length is 3 miles roundtrip with minimal elevation gain. The wetland is a nature preserve and the intent is to use the opportunity to discuss the importance of wetlands. We hope to do some birdwatching as there will be migrating birds as well as nesting waterfowl present at the wetland. Plan to meet at 9AM and depart at 9:30. It will be about a 45 minute drive to the trailhead at Beaver Lake Preserve. We plan to break for lunch around 12 and finish the hike at 1:30. We will then proceed to Beaver Lake to play some games and allow time for the kids to run around at a beautiful lakeside park. Depart at around 3PM and back to school about 3:45. Parent expected to arrive for pickup by 4PM.
Report:
Nature walk at Hazel Wolf Wetlands with 4th graders from South Shore. We used the opportunity to do some birdwatching as well as practice the leave no trace principles. We also spent the later afternoon at Pine Lake Park and took the opportunity to play some games with the kids to help with socialization as this was the first time out with most of there kids.
