Report:
Trip went very smoothly. Pretrip meeting at 8am at Columbia City Bakery just to make sure all leaders are running on time and for everyone to touch base before students show up at school. Weather was beautiful, which was helpful.

Students got suited up at school. Students got boots as well as a backpack and water bottle for the day. Students also received their lunches at this time. Left South Shore by 9:45am. Arrived at Wallace Falls at 11am. Forgot Discover Passes, but they sell them at the Wallace Falls trail head. The first students arrived at the Lower Falls shelter by 12:05pm and the last students by 12:20pm. We had lunch and took group photos at the falls. We started back at 12:55pm and made it back to the vans at 1:45pm. We hopped over the hatchery and made our 2pm tour. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see a dissection as promised, but the students loved feeding the juvenile salmon. The students all learned about salmon the previous year so it was neat seeing what they knew and could share as well as adding to that knowledge. We played a few games of bat and moth and did a closing circle at the hatchery. We left the hatchery at 3:05pm and made it back by 4:15pm.
Suggestions:
Remember discover passes! Making it to Middle Falls is too ambitious for elementary school when also doing a tour. Lower Falls was just right!
