- Plan:
- We will rent gear at the Snoqualmie Nordic Center, and will have a group lesson by the instructors there. After lunch, we will have some additional time to head out on the trails to practice our new skills.
- Report:
- We met at South Shore School at 8 to distribute gear, then headed up to Snoquamlie Nordic Center. The nordic center was very crowded, but the staff was very helpful, and had been notified by Group Sales that we were coming. We had a 1.5 hour ski lesson in the morning. We split into 2 groups, each with one instructor. We stayed near the Nordic Center and learned the basics of skiing, getting up after falling and going downhill, which was difficult. The kids improved rapidly. The lessons were a bit hectic because the kids weren't great about staying together or listening to the instructor, but everything worked out. We had lunch that we had brought at the Nordic Center. After lunch we carried our skis up a little ways and got onto a beautiful flat trail with views of Kecheelus lake. Some of the students went very fast, as they had really gotten a hang of the technique. It took a little longer than expected to get back, so we left at 3:30 instead of 3 as planned, and were back at 4:30. Noelle at Snoqualmie Group Sales was very helpful in organizing.
- Suggestions:
- Try to hold the lessons in the flat area just below the nordic center.
