It had been sunny and hadn't snowed for a week, so the snow was too firm at Gold Creek Snowpark area for snowshoeing or sledding.  So we drove up the road that leads to Silver Peak until we found a good sledding spot.

It had been really cold all week.  The snow was incredibly dry for Snoqualmie Pass.  When you walked on it you could hear that "crunching styrofoam" sound of cold & dry snow.

After a short snowshoe hike the kids got to sled and play in the snow.

All the kids and adults carried in a couple pieces of firewood so we could have a fire.  It was 8 degrees in the shade so the fire was really needed.

We also brought in a propane camp stove so we could have hot cider and hot cocoa.  It was 8 degrees in the shade so hot drinks were needed.

Once the sun slipped behind the hills it got cold fast, but everyone was having fun sledding so didn't mind.

The cold was a surprise to some of the kids who had never experienced real cold before, but once they had a chance to go sledding they forgot all about it and had a lot of fun.
